Our Story

Where It
All Began

Barrio Fiesta Frankfurt began with a simple question: why is there no major Filipino festival in the Frankfurt region anymore?

Our founder, Ernesto "Nestie" Catibog, experienced Filipino culture firsthand as a teenager through the Philippine Cultural Institute Frankfurt, where he learned traditional dances and performed at Fiesta Filipina.

Over the years, many of these gatherings disappeared. Instead of accepting that loss, Nestie joined forces with Nelson, Jeff, and Kathy to create something new, meaningful, and lasting.

That vision became Barrio Fiesta Frankfurt.

Our Mission

Culture.
Community.
Connection.

The Philippines is rich in culture, tradition, music, food, and hospitality. Barrio Fiesta Frankfurt was created to celebrate all of it.

For many Filipinos living in Germany, this country has become home. Yet there is something special about gathering with fellow Kababayans, sharing familiar food, hearing familiar music, and feeling connected to your roots.

For one day, we bring a piece of home to Frankfurt-Mühlheim — for Filipinos, friends of the Philippines, and everyone who wants to experience our culture.

People come first — not where they come from.

The People Behind It

Team

Four people. One vision. One stage for an entire community.

Ernesto Nestie Catibog
Ernesto "Nestie" Catibog
Founder & Organizer

Born and raised in Frankfurt as the son of Filipino immigrants who came to Germany in the 1970s, Nestie grew up between two cultures. As a teenager, he learned traditional Filipino dances at the Philippine Cultural Institute Frankfurt and performed at the annual Fiesta Filipina.

After studying and spending 15 years in Basel, Switzerland, he became an international businessman with a global perspective — yet never lost his roots. Barrio Fiesta Frankfurt is the realization of a long-held vision: a platform where Filipinos and their families can celebrate their heritage together. For Nestie, the festival is more than an event — it is a way of giving back.

Nelson
Nelson
Event Management

A proud Frankfurter with years of experience in event management, Nelson transforms ambitious ideas into well-executed realities. His expertise in planning, coordinating, and managing events of all sizes has earned him a strong reputation for organization, reliability, and attention to detail.

Beyond events, Nelson is passionate about promoting Filipino culture and businesses in Germany — including active involvement in initiatives to bring Jollibee, one of the Philippines' most iconic brands, to the German market. His business acumen and community engagement make him a key driving force behind Barrio Fiesta Frankfurt.

Jeff
Jeff
Entertainment & Promotions

Based in Stuttgart, Jeff brings extensive experience in entertainment, promotions, and artist relations to the team. Over the years, he has built strong relationships within the Filipino entertainment industry — connecting with artists, performers, production teams, and event organizers across the Philippines and Europe.

His vision is simple: every visitor should leave with unforgettable memories. Whether coordinating headline acts, cultural performances, or live concerts, Jeff ensures the entertainment at Barrio Fiesta reflects the quality of major international events.

Kathy
Kathy
Partnership Relations Manager

Kathy serves as the bridge between Barrio Fiesta Frankfurt and the many partners, sponsors, exhibitors, vendors, and community organizations that make the festival possible. With outstanding communication skills and a genuine passion for building meaningful relationships, she ensures every partner feels welcomed, valued, and supported.

She is often the first point of contact for businesses looking to participate — guiding them through sponsorship opportunities, vendor applications, and partnership programs. Behind every successful event are people who keep everything connected. Kathy is that person.

Together

Together, We Are Barrio Fiesta

Although each team member brings unique skills and experiences, we share one common goal: to create one of the largest and most meaningful Filipino cultural celebrations in Germany — a celebration that honors our heritage, strengthens our community, welcomes new generations, and creates lasting memories.

We are building more than a festival.
We are building a community.
